Not quite sure what you mean with the last sentence...
By recent additions, I meant features that were not important while Emailer was being actively developed, such as IMAP, LDAP, SMTP AUTH, Baysian Filtering, etc which I have come to feel that are must have features for a modern email client.
Which features does TB lack that CE has? The only one I can think of off the top of my head is the Auto File Log.
sending account based on recipient,
scheduling by time as well as periodic.
lookup of name by email address when name not provided in email
mail actions with multiple conditions (if/then type logic)
I'm certain there are more that I've missed that I'll remember once I pull up Emailer on my eMac when I get home.
I think you're being a bit fatalistic about that, but as a professional
dev you could always DIY and write an extension ;-)
Maybe, but past experience with other projects does not support being hopeful. TB will have to come a bit further before I consider it. (Of course, I may have to give TB another shake, things may have improved since I last tried it.)
<snip>Anyway, forget the TB team, tell me what CE features you'd like to see in TB and I'll add them to my list.
Now is a great time to raise matters such as these because Josh Aas (a Camino dev) has just started work at the Mozilla Foundation to work on Mac OS X specific issues <http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=6169>.
Not sure what you mean about crisp window rendering... speed or sharpness? I know some people dislike OS X's window rendering because they find it fuzzy compared to OS 9.
What I mean by crisp in this instance, is that the windows, menus, and dialogs not behave like a MS Windows application.
In what places does TB violate the HIG?
In particular, the preferences dialogs make me retch. But you can also compare the mail list coulms in TB and Mail to see how TB gets it wrong.
BTW, did you know that Emailer's interface violated the contemporary HIG in a few places? :-)
Yes I did know this, but I don't remember being bothered by any of Emailer's deviations.
