Yeah, I don't think it is just reporting open networks... I've already 
labeled it as junk (although some day, I'll do formal testing and see if 
I was mistaken). I still have it hanging on my keychain... it amuses me 
to press the button while in various stores, just to see if it picks up 
anything.

I paid $20 for mine at CompUSA (on sale down from $30... it was next to 
the register, so they got me on the impulse buy... bastards!). Mine is by 
Mobile Edge. I know Kensington makes one, but I heard theirs was junk 
too. I did see a report a while back for one on Tom's Hardware, but I 
don't recall the maker (but IIRC, they said it wasn't available to the 
general public, just to WiFi installers... but that was also probably 
over a year ago before WiFi was really fully mainstream and these 
keychain devices were only seen as a "hacker" tool... today no one cares 
and war driving isn't seen as "evil", so the same company may now be 
selling them to anyone).
