>Its not, so must be junk. Yeah, I don't think it is just reporting open networks... I've already labeled it as junk (although some day, I'll do formal testing and see if I was mistaken). I still have it hanging on my keychain... it amuses me to press the button while in various stores, just to see if it picks up anything.
>There is a market for a well designed tool like this. ;-) > >The one I saw was $59 or something at MacWorld. Don't remember the brand. I paid $20 for mine at CompUSA (on sale down from $30... it was next to the register, so they got me on the impulse buy... bastards!). Mine is by Mobile Edge. I know Kensington makes one, but I heard theirs was junk too. I did see a report a while back for one on Tom's Hardware, but I don't recall the maker (but IIRC, they said it wasn't available to the general public, just to WiFi installers... but that was also probably over a year ago before WiFi was really fully mainstream and these keychain devices were only seen as a "hacker" tool... today no one cares and war driving isn't seen as "evil", so the same company may now be selling them to anyone). -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
