I've had two Macs (iMac G4 and Aluminum powerbook) behind my Airport for years. Sometimes my Dad will come over with his ibook and join the network and go online. I'd elaborate on Chris' suggestion to purchase a router by specifying you purchase an Apple Airport Express. Yes, more expensive, but check Amazon.com and dealmac.com for deals/rebates. Several reasons for recommending the AE (which I bought at 30% off at an Apple on Black Friday 2004) -small -gives you the flexibility to go wireless -can stream music to your stereo. -plug-n-play Cheers.
