Might it be easier to write an applescript that simply opens the HTML email and graphics in your browser of choice? You can either have it auto run via a mail action, or just leave it in the AS menu and select it when needed. That way, you get the best of both worlds, and only need to worry about one email client. >Thanks to all for keeping this list interesting.
