Sorry for wasting anyone's time. I decided to check the Auto-file Log, and saw that everything was being filed in one of my mailing list folders. A light went on upstairs - I had been puttering around with that mail action late yesterday - and sure enough, I screwed it up! Anyway, the DS_Store File Problem seems to have been fixed.
