You should not need ResEdit if you have the original Emailer Custom Settings patch. It should just be too files, one is a resource file, the other is directions. You *should* just be able to quit Emailer, put the resource file into the Emailer File Folder, and then start Emailer and it will pick up the changes from that file. You should NOT need to use ResEdit to make the changes. You CAN use ResEdit to make the changes permanent in Emailer, or to do the changes manually if you don't have the Emailer Custom Settings patch available (the resources to be changed are already present in Emailer, the Custom Settings file simply overrides what is built into Emailer). That said, some of us (myself included), have had very bad luck getting Emailer to make the changes by just dropping the Custom Settings file into the Emailer Files Folder. I've almost always had to resort to making the changes manually using ResEdit, and I know others have as well.
