Not sure about all the steps, but one can increase the resolution of any picture in programs like GraphicConverter (www.lemkesoft.de) and PhotoShop., and one can also resize them. That is how one can make avatars, such as the ones one can upload on the Apple Discussions forums if one is at a high enough "level." I should think if one could locate the CE icon as an individual file, one could tweak it and put it back. How to do the latter steps someone else probably knows; I don't.
