It should be easy... Macs have always been easy to get into the internet. One "gottcha" is that modern phone companies have gone from a simple "plug and play" method, to an infernal process which makes it impossible to "plug and play". If it is a company like SBC/Yahoo, they want OS 9.x, or it is a pain. The problem is they *require* a recent version of Java be installed to "activate" the connection. Buch of hooey if you ask me, but they usually refuse to do it manually. the biggest problem comes from a dialog box that Java throws up, that often doesn't come up on Mac OS 8/9 which is the end user license. They require that to be clicked OK, even if you can't configure your machine otherwise. Worst case, you can borrow someone else computer for the day to "agree" to their stupid terms, and get on with your life. ;-) good luck "I picked up a Magic 8-Ball the other day and it said 'Outlook not so good.' I said, 'Sure, but Microsoft still ships it.'"
