Also to note, as of right now, the PPC versions of the replaced computers are still for sale. I don't know for how long, but my guess is, for at least a while (ie: not just a few days, but likely a few months). So there is still time to buy a brand new PPC based Mac. And once they are pulled, my guess is they will be available as refurbs from Apple for a while after that. And then you have the whole used market. If Apple's transition between the 68k and PPC chips is any indication, 10.6 will probably be the last version to run on PPC. At 18 months between major releases (Apple's stated time frame), that puts us 2-3 years from now before the last OS version is released that works with PPC. Then another 18 months after that before updates have stopped and the first Intel only version is released. Then who knows how long before software stops supporting it. So really, anyone that must have their Emailer, likely has in the range of 4-5 years from today before they have to make a really hard decision about moving away from it. Who knows what the face of email itself will be like in 4-5 years. New email concepts may force a change long before the hardware/OS do. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
