No, there is a limit of 100 Meters between devices... so roughly 300 feet
is the maximum cable run unless you put something between segments (such
as a hub).

You can go much farther if you get a modem of some sort (they make
devices that will convert from twisted pair ethernet to twisted pair
serial and allow you to run much much longer distances).

Is there any kind of utility poles in the car park? Can you string your
ethernet cable on the poles?

Baring that, your best bet will be to go wireless. You should be able to
do that fairly inexpensively. Unless you need AppleTalk support over the
wireless link (not likely since you say you are on OS X), then you can go
with dirt cheap wireless access points from any number of vendors. Since
your internet speed is limited to 512k, you can go with 802.11b
wireless... you should be able to pick up a pair of those for next to
nothing (I see them on sale new around here for around $5-$10 each after
rebates... check ebay and I'm sure you will find even cheaper prices).

Since you are only covering 50 feet of distance, you may not need to
worry about a directional antenna. A 2.2 dbi rubber duck antenna like you
find on SoHo level access points can cover a radius of about 100 feet
without signal loss when outdoors. One on each building, and you should
be able to get the full 11 mbs bandwidth just using the access points out
of the box.

The downside to not using a directional antenna... anyone can pick up
your signal (so look for units that have WPA support, which may be harder
to find on 802.11b)... the upside, if the wind blows and shifts your
antenna, your connection is less likely to drop then with a directional
antenna.
