Since everyone is gathering around the campfire...

I'm happily using Emailer under Classic on 10.4.3. I just switched to OS
X full time about a month ago, didn't much like Apple's Mail.app, and saw
no immediate reason to change as I have other Classic apps I want to keep
on hand for the time being.

The only 'bumps' I've found are these: the Temp Incoming folder problem
(only a minor occasional annoyance for me), main windows sometimes
resizing on quit/shutdown/ restart (remedied with an AppleScript to
restore a preferred window size and position on opening Emailer), the
default mailto problem (fixed with another AppleScript per my previous
posts).

The default message size window does not seem to be easily changed, but
it too can be quickly resized/repositioned with an AppleScript.

I don't know if it's relevant to anyone else's situation, but a while ago
my ISP (dialup) changed something in their configuration that locked
Emailer out. I found that using the Internet Config settings (Internet
control panel) instead of Emailer's account setup, allowed everything to
work normally again.

Sooner or later, I'll take a look at some of the other X mail clients
available, buy a copy of Emailchemy and make a transition... but I'm in
no hurry at all.

I'm far from being a 'power' e-mail user, so Emailer's quirks haven't
diminished its utility for me. Ironically, I actually preferred Emailer
Light...

The only genuine complaints I have about Emailer are that I could never
figure out how to ResEdit out the splash screen (I _hate_ splash
screens), and that, in use, if the messages portion of the main browser
window isn't active, clicking once on a message, then hitting enter will
open the mailbox folder instead of the message. I've never taught myself
to avoid this routinely... maybe another few decades of use?

Good to see there are some other diehards still around.

Peter B.
