Were you using a Mac at the time in question? Then no, it wasn't a worm... there are exactly ZERO email worms in the wild for any version of the Mac OS. There are (I believe) none that even exist for pre-OS X versions of the OS. I can't make the same claim for OS X, as there are now a few proof of concept viri for OS X, however, nothing that is currently in the wild (and although I don't believe any of them are email worms, I don't want to state that as a fact).
