Dear Mary Lou, Could it be that your downloads folder contains thousands of items ?
Emailer is for every attachment you receive busy searching sequentially to create yet another unique filename for the so maniest "enclosed.html" or "viagra.gif" maybe ? Could that be the case ? My emailer is at set at 18MB RAM and it uses 9MB. You can see this in CLASSIC PREFERENCES under MEMORY.
