Chris,

I went to the Applications Folder in System X, found Disk Utility.
it asked
me to select a disk (First Aid was highlighted and I selected Mac HD in
the sidebar.
It said click 'Repair Disk' but I first clicked Verify Disk, and when
there were no
problems indicated I clicked Repair Disk Permissions.

Before I went through this I had another (A NEW) problem. I was
trying to
print out a letter and envelope using only the wireless connection and
with my
husband's desktop computer and printer turned on. It printed the letter
just fine.
I then tried to print an envelope in the Word program and it recognized
the return
address but just wouldn't recognize the addressee. I tried to manually
add the address and found the delete and backspace wasn't working. Thats
when I decided to run the Disk
Utility. I tried to find the Applications folder in Spotlight and found
again that the backspace wasn't working and that it was printing
something other than I was typing.

I then shut down and restarted the computer and it is now working
okay!
If the Hard Disk checked out okay does this mean the problem is in the
software somewhere?

In a previous message today I also mentioned the duplicate files on
the desktop. It
happened again at the last download. A notice came in from UCLA from one
of their
departments. I opened it to check the subject but did not download the
attachment. That
attachment nevertheless appeared separately on my desktop as an
'Image001.jpg' file!

...just to make life interesting... :(
