Use the AppleScript "Shred Messages." It gets rid of the message (it's not even in "Deleted Mail") AND it puts the attachment in the trash. I love it. All my spam goes into my "Spam" folder as ordered by mail action (thanks, Chris). Then after eye- balling for the occasional stray good one, I batch-select, then apply "Shred Messages" and all spam is gone in one fell swoop.
