I did eventually get eMA to work, and I saved all my CE in a FileMaker Pro db. Which I had to "lock" (get info) so it wouldn't change just from opening it to look an an email. Because that requires another 330MB to be backed up (again) every time I opened it.
I can highly recommend EmailChemy ( www.wierdkid.com ) as far better than anything else I've seen for archiving and converting Emailer to a "future-proof" standard format, which you can then take to any other email program. Fast, and reads the Claris Emailer message database directly. No pokey, problematic applescripted exports involved. (That can save about 3 days right there!)
