I haven't heard how the project to recreate eMailer for OS X is going, but I thought I'd better put in the requirements for use in my company, in case these features aren't already on the list:
- encrypted (SSL) connections to the mail server (ports 995 and 465) - encrypted connections to the LDAP server (port 636) - ability to store mail and address book information at a user-defined location (in our case, within an encrypted disk image) The ability to import settings, mail, and address book information from other clients (especially Mail, Thunderbird, and Entourage) would be extremely helpful, as I've noticed that most E-mail clients are, shall we say, even more limited in their ability to export such information than they are at importing it (not that anybody's import facility exactly makes me dance with glee.) Even better would be the ability to suck address book info out of Thunderbird, and keep it in the Mac Address Book, where it belongs. (Although that we mean that we'd need to figure out how to secure the Address Book.)
