Like Emailer, GyazMail Eudora, & PowerMail keep the attachments separate
from the email database. 
Apple Mail, Entourage, Outlook, & FireBird, all keep the attachment in
the email db, which I personally consider a big problem. 

Note that many email clients crap out if you have a total of 2 gigs (or
4gigs) of mail including attachments. Either per db, or per folder. For
some people that is only 5 months of email! All the more reason to keep
the attachments separate.
