Hmmmm, it appears that there is a thing called Baton Mail that does
this authentication. I wonder if Chris knows anything about this ;-)
Boy, I sure hope it comes with a big printed full-color manual!
Eeek!!! Baton Mail is a buggy POS that I haven't touched in eons
since I lost the source code.
You are welcome to give it a try, it's free, the documentation is
almost as bad as the program itself, but if you can follow my logic
in the readme, you should be able to get it up and going.
I also don't know if it runs on System 7.6 or not. I think in theory
it should, as the version of RealBasic I wrote it with I think said
7.6 was supported, but I honestly have never tried.
Also see my other email regarding the hacked versions of emailer on
my web site. In fact, it *might* be easier for me to create a SMTP
Auth 68k version of emailer, then it would be for me to fix the bugs
in Baton Mail (the good news is, I *think* I actually know what
exactly is wrong with Baton Mail, and how to fix it... the bad news
is, without knowing where my latest source code went, it would take
serious work to implement the fix).
