Good morning Steve,
I have worked my way through the user guide and tutorial through chapter 7 for
EMANE 0.8.1. I have also looked at the github wiki for 0.9.1 for antenna
profiles. I've found out that there are slight differences in the header tags
and formatting for the different versions of EMANE antenna profiles. Currently,
we are limited to EMANE 0.8.1 for compatibility with our testbed. I have
successfully modified the antenna profile, antenna manifest, and scenario.eel
for demonstration 8 (EMANE 0.8.1). I have also been successful in removing gps
locations from the scenario.eel and having our testbed report location events
and seeing the changes reported in OLSR viewer.
 Now to my questions:
What I am trying to do: I am trying to use our testbed to report location and
platform orientation to EMANE via an eventdaemon. I want EMANE to process
pathloss and report signal strength back to our test bed. I don't think that I
need the our testbed to work with EMANE just yet. I need to be able to
calculate signal strength between two platforms using directional antennas
similar to demonstration 8.
I see that eel file information cannot be updated live and on the fly
(Running-State Modifiable: no).

Does EMANE treat the portions that are specified in the eel file as static?
Meaning that once variables are specified in a scenario.eel type file-- they
cannot be changed by an "eventdaemon"? I have had trouble with antenna
directionality and platform orientation... (but I specified these in the
scenario.eel file at the start of the scenario and this may be a problem?).
This is with EMANE 0.8.1 r1 on 32-bit linux.
