Title: Oracle DBA with MySQL(a must)
Location: NYC Duration: 6+ Months Rate: Open Summary Description
The Database Administrator (OLTP) is responsible for managing the
installation, configuration, updates, maintenance, backup, recovery, tuning,
monitoring, security, and testing of Client's Oracle and MySQL OLTP database
servers.
Responsibilities
· Installation and Upgrades of Oracle 9i, 10g software
· Maintenance of existing Oracle RDBMS installations
· Build new databases and perform data migrations
· Perform backup and recovery using RMAN
· Effective troubleshooting of database issues, interaction with
Oracle Support
· Monitor database usage and tune systems to increase performance
· Ensure database security across all of Client's Oracle RDBMS's
· Test new installations, configurations, and databases within
Client's environment
· Performing On-Call rotation duties to support 24/7 production
environment
· Database administration of development and QA database servers
· Follow documentation for Database procedures and best practices.
· Database administration and maintenance of MySQL production
servers
Employment Standards Required Skills
· 6+ months experience with oracle 10g
· 2+ years experience as an Oracle DBA in UNIX environments
· 2+ years experience writing SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripts
· Strong experience with Backup and Recovery procedures using RMAN and
Hot Backup
· Working experience with Database Creation and Cloning
· Experience with SQL and Database tuning
· Hands-on experience with Oracle installations, upgrade, patching,
and migrations
· Experience with security maintenance on production servers
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· BS degree in Computer Science preferred, others considered
Additional Knowledge
· Knowledge of Data Guard a plus
· Knowledge of MYSQL a must
· Knowledge of RAC a plus
· Masters degree a plus
· Experience with heterogeneous database environments a plus
· Oracle certification a plus
