Is the phase 'backward compatibility" saying anything to you? I think no...
I didn`t think REAL substitution but extending the Embperl...
In that case it can solve my two problems... at least.
You can be sure Larry Wall WON`T ever remove $] from Perl because thousands
of scripts would be affected.

Because there are people who are not as good as you in Embperl. They can use
that deprecated form, why not.
