I just checked everything with a co-worker who maintains this web-app longer
than i do :).

The downgrad from apache-1.3.22-2 to apache-1.3.20-16 hasn't helped!

Now I will update my kernel to 2.4.18. (no rpm....compile by myself :)

@wim: The URL you wrote for DBI optimization was a great help!
     But everything mentioned there is already implemented.
     I preloaded Apache::DBI instead of DBI because when preloading DBI apache
produced a segfault.
     Know my co-worker played around a bit and found out that we have to laod
DBI first and Embperl last....very strange, but know it works.
