Embperl install error

I'm installing on RH8.0 (Perl 5.8.0), Apache (httpd-2.0.40-11.i386.rpm), 
Mod_Perl (mod_perl-1.99_05-3.i386.rpm).

I just tried  Perl -MCPAN -e shell
> install HTML::Embperl 
and it pulled down 2.0b8.

Here's where it blows up:
