Ok. I had copied this form examples I had seen so I assumed it was correct. But that would explain why I never had it working reliably in 1.3.

Your suggestion worked, as does the $epreq method. I've decided to use the latter. Incidentally, I did try $epreq initially but it didn't work. I suspect I must have made a typo because it worked perfectly when I tried it again. In any case, thanks for the help.
