No, sorry, I'm not up on XS. I was just thinking to print out
%initparams and $srv_rec for you. 

update: I did so, and it's coming up with $srv_rec being undefined. The
initparam hash looks okay, it contains 'use_env' => 1.

This is a call into the C part. If you are able to debug it, it would be
great, but I am not sure if you are familar with XS
