Yes, I was just looking at that. But the trouble is it wants to bring in a bunch of other packages that I don't want or need, e.g. apache (I build my own apache). So right now I'm trying to figure out how/if I can download the source for the Embperl package from somewhere so I can build it manually. Thanks for the pointer, this looks promising - if it's packaged with Debian then I guess it must work with stretch. I thought there was some talk about removing Embperl from Debian, but I guess they must have gotten past that. I'm glad to see it's still there. Now I just have to figure out how to extricate it from Debian's dependencies. I just want the src so I can compile it myself. That's a Debian issue, obviously.
