Jeff or anyone else

I have uploaded the terminal dialog from the three stages (rather than
clutter messages of this list) so

www.castlewoodconsultants.com/Misc/checkout.txt
is the terminal log of the checkout

www.castlewoodconsultants.com/Misc/config.txt
is the config process

www.castlewoodconsultants.com/Misc/MakeLog.txt
is the failed make.

I am in Ubuntu Dapper. EMC 2.0.5 installed off the LiveCD and (I think)
updated itself. Certainly system is up to date.

I installed all the compiler components I could identify.

I feel pretty stupid and not being able to see why a piece of software will
not compile. I "think" I understand the basics of make. At my previous
attempt, I did notice a warning that Xaw could not be found so I installed
the Dev package for it. Config no longer complains about it.

Part of my problem is that I do not know when a "no" in Config is bad news.
Obviously some of them are from "fishing expeditions". The "not founds" for
the rtai stuff look worrying but Synaptic does not give me any clues as to
what package I might be missing.

So thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction - then I can get
to grips with the pyVCP which is where I came in, trying to run a spindle
with two pulleys :=)

Best wishes

John Prentice
