We disable all ACPI-related items in the kernel configuration; this does sometimes cause hardware not to work (for instance, the ipw2200 on one of my laptops doesn't work without ACPI PNP). The reason that we disable these items is that some parts of ACPI are related to power management, and power management features historically have interfered with realtime software. This may be more superstition than exhaustive testing, but that's the way it goes.
(the other reason "some ACPI" would be nice to have is for power off when shutting down linux) Jeff ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW!
