Yes I choose it because I am somewhat familiar with it (I use it) and it's pins
functions are hard coded making my programming easier.

My goal was to getting this program to actually configure something,
then switch to hostmot2 then look at supporting pmmc (though I know
nothing of the pitfalls with it so it would be longer term goal).
Originally in my mind - if I supported hostmot2 I wanted to be able to
support all the different configurations available for 5i20.
That includes steppers. I concluded at the time that that was too much
to bite off at once. But as you said I could pick a fairly standard
setup, support it then expand it later.

I am delighted for the encouragement. Honestly I was wondering what the
response would be until I could show what it was capable of.
I am interested in any helpful tips, constructive criticism or joining in of
coding if the fancy strikes you.
some of the pages are still conceptual (eg the advanced realtime components
page)
For me I find it easier to have something to look/play with then modify from
there.
but if anyone sees a much better way or idea that is just plain wrong please
let me know.
I might even listen too you :)

I will have to read about the details of using hostmot 2....

Cheers Chris M
