There's one open bug report (in my head, not on SF) against hostmot2: 
steppers have been reported to overshoot in a certain situation.  Maybe 
i should open it up to input from the list...

The report is from a guy on some German-language forum, translated and 
forwarded to me by Alex Joni.  I have tried to reproduce the issue and i 
can't see it on my machine.

After i ran this test, it was reported that the overshooting only ever 
happened when the user did keyboard jogs with feed override above 55%. 
I have not tested this yet, i hope to do it tonight.

ISTR a problem with key-up events not registering when the users think 
they should, and that keyboard jogs are discouraged for that reason.  It 
*sounds* like that's *not* what's happening here, because the user 
reports a tiny overshoot followed by correction back to the commanded 
position.  He's working on producing a halscope capture.
