I used iosh a lot years ago and it is way out of date.  In fact, my
coffee pot timer took on new life after iosh became available.  These
days iocontrol and a couple other HAL modules allow much easier access
and connectivity for the things that iosh did.

Iosh sort of followed after bridgeportio and minimillio (also long gone)
but allowed a bit more accessible customization for those of us that
were "C" ignorant.   

The only downside I see coming from the newer systems is that they seem
to promote a bit less awareness of the unique command, status, and
message structures that exist in that part of the EMC code.
