The line that axis shows as the "current" line comes from the task controller from stat.id or stat.motion_line. In C++ terms those are motion.traj.id and task.motionLine.
There si also task.currentLine but for instance while waiting for an M6 toolchange to complete it is not the line with the M6. If I was aware of a more appropriate item in the stat buffer for choosing what to show as the "current line" I'd use it, but I think that without changes in task axis is doing the best it can.
