Why?

Apart from anything else, I doubt many of us have a 64-bit AMD system
to experiment on.

LinuxCNC is haphazardly supported on 32-bit Ubuntu Hardy and Lucid.
The further you go from that platform the more sketchy the support
gets, until you get to where you are, where you are pretty much on
your own.

People are trying to help and advise, but only out of a sense of
helpfulness, which is rapidly eroding.
