I have noticed on the existing mailing lists that sometimes a reply will be sent (from smartphones, maybe?) and it breaks the message threading, starting a new thread with the same subject instead of branching from the old thread.
I'm not sure if anything can be done about this, since it's the fault of the uncooperative e-mail client, whatever it may be. But if there are any new prospective email systems that are being evaluated that can do a better job of maintaining a thread when the client is uncooperative, that would be a good feature to look for, in my opinion. Or maybe threaded mailing lists are becoming a thing of the past, and we are now going to be herded into web forums?
