it should also be possible to debug dynamically loaded components (I am doing 
it for another application)

I am not yet very into the emc2 source, can you give me an example of a file 
where you would like to put a breakpoint for Hal (you mentioned ddt but I could 
no find such a thing)? Maybe you have to attach also other processes..

I used to debug with gdbtui, a pure text based debugger.
