I have dealt with those clipons Jon, but not willingly, they are hell on 
the screws, including those that actually carry a captured nut because the 
edge of the hole demolishes the threads of the screw.  If the clearance 
hole is 1/4" or more, we usually either throw the rack away, or weld in 
replacement rails that are properly and accurately drilled.  The bad screws 
and horrible tolerances simply can't be lived with when the gear weighs 80+ 
lbs and is on ball bearing sliding rails just so you can pull it out and 
clean the heads of a tape deck.  Those days are about over since hard 
drives have replaced tape cartridges for the most part today, but that is 
what I had to deal with on a daily basis 20 years back up the log.  The 
predrilled rails, 4 to the rack are expensive enough that after the first 
one I welded up, the rest were recycled and new ones bought, it was quicker 
and about a wash for cost.
