I installed Ubuntu mini from http://www.ubuntu-mini-remix.org/download/10.04.1/ubuntu-mini-remix-10.04.1-i386.iso. It is only text mode. Dpkg shows that all dependencies are met. I installed Xorg and Fluxbox, via apt-get. Then LinuxCNC of buildbot. 2.5 and next 2.6 too. Still dpkg shows that all dependencies are met. The program works only partially. Can run and move the machine, but, for example, latency-test does not run at all. Similarly, I have a problem with camviev. Error messages do not say anything or even are misleading.
I once had a similar story when compiling LinuxCNC to Precise 64-bit. <configure> worked, but the compiler gave error message with no sense. I remember that after installing the libraries which <configure> admonished not, the program compiled. Returning to the topic. It seems to me that the lack of libraries, making the system go wild when I try to use them. Where I find information about all dependencies of LinuxCNC ? What packages I need to install to get it working ? At the moment I have a working system and almost working LinuxCNC on the 1GB partition. Only xubuntu-desktop needs 1.4 GB. I care for a small system with no unnecessary software. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How fast is your code? 3 out of 4 devs don\\\'t know how their code performs in production.
