Chris, I am definitely not a fan of unity. I tried uninstalling and replacing it with GDM, but the system became unbootable. I was not able to recover, not that tried very hard. What little was on it was backed up so I just rebuilt from scratch. The original install was through several upgrades and had a lot of bloat, so was time to rebuild anyway.
I have heard a lot of good things about Mint but have not gotten around to trying it. Regards, Eric When you get tired of Unity try Cinnamon. You can add Cinnamon to Ubuntu just google it. I haven't done that I used MINT instead. I'd b interested in your comparison of the two! It's difficult to multitask in Unity.
