While not directly addressing Michael's work on the parport driver, I 
have pulled the latest from rtos-integration-preview1, built it on my 
4-core AMD box, and run latency-test with all 16 combinations of base 
and servo thread on the 4 cores. I get lovely numbers. Rather than clot 
this list with my turgid prose I've posted my results and observations 
to my occasional Google Site
