Hi, Yishin.

Given the preponderance of Ubuntu 10.04LTS users in LinuxCNC-land I
tested Michael's setup on a Ubuntu 10.04LTS (64-bit) box running all
three services involved---DHCP, TFTP, and NFS. I've done a lot of
digging and haven't been able to find any useful information in any of
the logs. Granted, it's possible there's some magic setting that will
capture more detailed logs.

Of course, since my rootfs is on an NFS mount, I have the complete logs
of the BeagleBone system up essentially to the *point of impact* but the
useful bits don't get written in time.

I still think it's the DHCP aspect that's catching me up. The TFTP
server should be out of the picture once the system is loaded and other
hosts are having no trouble accessing the same NFS mount before, during,
and after the BeagleBone disappears from view.

I'm going to do several tests with different servers running on virtual
hosts so I can easily install and tear down different configurations.
[note to the unfamiliar: I've been known to use a shotgun where a
fly-swatter would have done.]

Thanks for mentioning dnsmasq. I played with it a bit when I was
repurposing a couple of old routers some years ago but to be honest I
just "assumed" the big-boy dhcp-server would/could do everything and
didn't think about alternatives. Trying dnsmasq is a good way to draw on
a different code base.

Regards,
Kent
