I'm not an expert in this area, but I did watch with some concern the
details of some of the components of LinuxCNC that have no license
agreement from the creator, and the creator can't be reached.
I think that is very small, like a couple %
of the code.  But, then there are incompatibilities between different
agreements in OUR source, and the source of a number of other
open-source components that are part of the complete system.
I think this latter issue is part of the problem, finding a form of GPL
that allows all the components to work together with no conflicts
in licensing.  (But, I really don't understand all these GPL conflicts
well at all.)
