Greetings, Andy in particular; I hacked up a .hal file with lincurve spliced in between the pid and pwmgen modules, and did a bit of preliminary tuning today, making what I'd say was good progress,
I first tried the buildout resistor in series with the control voltage, but soon found that this controller has a relatively low impedance input, however a 3.3k did seem to help, at the expense of about 25% of the top speed. So I took that out and installed lincurve. That, if setup at a personality=15, sure takes a bunch of setp's, but I'm halfway there on the 2nd iteration. Its actually usable now. So I finished up the top of the box holding it all on the rear of the lathe, making it mostly swarf proof. I'll turn off the pid feedbacks so I can get stable readings out of halmeter tomorrow, then tweak as I go, using 60 rpm as the slowest speed. Thank you for that suggestion. I had to back away from the 2.6.0-pre version though as the repo was still broken yet at about 13:00 today, preventing me from installing the linuxcnc-dev package, so now both machines are on the 2.5.2 branch again. I did have one weird malfunction, I stopped it from wide open and could not restart the spindle, looking at the stuff I interlock with the spindle "on" to keep it from issuing a reverse (or fwd) again until it has fully stopped, I apparently hit that magic state where the one shot never timed out, locking out the flipflop that actually allows it to start. I reached up and turned the chuck a few degrees, creating a few pulses out of the encoder, one phase of which drives this oneshot, and it then took right off, and I haven't been able to duplicate it again. Is is possible the oneshot will not time out if its trigger is true? But since that is true 50% of the time if it stops at a random position, so that should hit 50% of the time, which squashes that line of thought. A nilmerg?
