You can find baseline minimalist kernel configs in the base/arch/x86/configs 
directory of the following git repo:

The configs provided are meant to be modified to specific hardware and will not 
boot on ANY system out of the box UNLESS the config is modified via make 
menuconfig

Please refer to the README.INSTALL file for build instructions. If you have any 
issues, please reply to me as I am the lead contributor to that RTAI git 
repository. You can find me on IRC in #linuxcnc-devel at irc.freenode.net or 
email me directly. If you have a bug you'd like to report, you may file one on 
the github page.
