You are right, it's 2.5.3.  Those others don't exist.  You can see
the NEWS items and links to the changelogs for releases on the
lefthand side of the front page of the website.

Well it depends.  As I see it, the upcoming 2.6 might be made off
master, might be master with the new rtos and unified binary chages,
might be master with the joints_axes3 changes, or might be all of
the above.  There are people actively using all these combinations
except (I bet) the last one.  For a production machine I'd strongly
prefer 2.5.

I believe the NEWS does that for users (not developers).  It's also
clearly on the front page of the wiki at the top.  If you think it
could be clearer somehow, please reword it.
