A very simple (too trivial, in some ways) demo I saw recently was a levitating ball bearing. Basically a prox in the base, and an electromagnet above, with the prox distance feeding into a PID driving the coil current. This particular demo was by Vector, and all comms was through XCP (which we may need to look at).
As I said, it's too trivial in some ways, but I suspect doable with existing components. <ponder> I have a 150m laser thing working with SSI and Hal, can we play the same game with electrostatics and balloons?
