Well, if I test it to eliminate any stupid typos that 
prevent LinuxCNC
from starting, I don't think there's much risk.  But, since 
it all
WORKS, there's no real need to do this.  I'm just trying to tidy
things up for those who have to edit the sample configs.

Well, one line to enable the feature in the driver, and one 
line to
link the signals for each axis.  I will do this one, then, 
as it creates a
new config rather than changing an existing one.
