is probably going to 2 of them, because I want one of them to jack up the 
feedback gain when in low speed, so that the control is considerably 
stiffer when in low gear & turning under 500 rpm.  FF0 is currently near 
unity=100%, very little I and microscopic D, but a fair amount of P.

The problem is that I am NOT monitoring motor speed, but spindle speed, so 
if I am in low, enter an S400m3, it can do it, but the motor is very busy. 
800 would probably make schapnel out of its fan/flywheel, about 2 lbs of 
well balanced cast iron, 6.5" in diameter, and 10 grand is skirting with 
danger.

Aww come on now Andy, surely my nearly 300 loc hal file is not the largest 
ever.

At least 60 loc of that is synthesizing the stopping and reversal once 
stopped, of that whole spindle chain so as to be able to use the G33.1 
rigid tap cycle, made a requirement because motion itself goes from fwd to 
reverse & back again with no stop & wait for it to stop, so I have to 
synth all that.

For that it has to be stopped with suicide brakes, and while that is 
taking place, the PID and PWMGEN are disabled, and the actual speed 
command zeroed with a mux2 so that when the relays have been enabled, it 
must be subjected to a limit2.n.maxv starting from zero else the motor is 
quite capable of demolishing the drive belt and pulley's.  I just got thru 
with expending the hole in the bed where the control wires came out, to 
give me room to stick a hard 5/16" bolt in on top of that end of the 
counter shaft bracket, and draw down on it with a 6mm bolt for an 
adjuster, so that I can raise that acceleration somewhat without stripping 
the teeth off the belt or the pulley.  That pulley is plastic, an odd belt 
type, and nearly $400 for a later, better belt with squarer tooth 
profiles, and 2 custom made metallic pulleys. Healthy motor, and the 
biggest 4 jaw chuck that can be mounted equals a lot of mass to stop & 
reverse.  The load R's to stop it do warm right up.
