While this would certainly be easier for upgraders, I don't in principal,
support always adding a INI switch, particularly when it can be 'fixed' with
HAL.
(Which it will be when we add the patch)
It pollutes / complicates the code, promotes not moving forward, ends up a
hassle
to keep track of / document properly, and makes debugging longer and harder.
In some cases an INI switch does make sense - I don't believe this is one of
them.
The point of major releases are for the addition/subtraction of code that will
break
configs or current behaviour. You should expect it on major version releases.
Whether the behaviour is good or bad is certainly up for debate.
This is what good feedback from pre-releases is for.
It just seemed the users expectations were a little off the mark, for a
pre-release, experimental
branch being used on production equipment, apparently without testing or
without any changes in
configuration or behaviour.
Soon we will have a patch and it should be fine for everyone.
The process was a little rough but we will get there :)
