Do you have a reason to want to build the patched kernel, rather than
download a patched kernel package?
There is a pre-built kernel image available following instructions here:
http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinuxCNC_On_Ubuntu_Precise

Even if you do need to compile your own version, the config from there
might be a good starting point.
